Stamp Duty

Stamp Duty is payable by the Buyer.  You can check the Stamp Duty payable by going to the Office of State Revenue website at https://www.osr.qld.gov.au/calculators/index.shtml or by contacting our office. Your bank may also advise you about Stamp Duty on your loan.

Stamp Duty payable on Contracts for property varies according to the purpose for which you are buying the property.

There are a number of concessions and/or exemptions available, the most common being:

  • Principle Place of Residence: The property will your residence. There are conditions that need to be complied with to be eligible for this concession as well as ceiling as to the value of the property;
  • First Home Owner: The property will your residence or you have purchased a vacant block of residential land that you intend to build your home on. There are conditions that need to be complied with to be eligible for this concession as well as ceiling as to the value of the property;
  • Transfer of Primary Production land between Family Members: There are conditions that need to be complied with to be eligible for this concession.
